Description
Original coloured lithograph, heightened with gum arabic, slight crease. Joseph Guy (1814-73), who played for Nottinghamshire, the Players, and All-England Eleven, was one of the three best players of the 1840s, reliable against the best opposition and particularly effective against fast bowling: he also occasionally kept wicket. His style was so pleasing that a contemporary once said of him, -Joe Guy, all ease and elegance, fit to play before the Queen in her Majesty's Parlour-. Ref :- -The Noblest Game- by J. Arlott and N. Cardus. To see more images go to:- [View Bookseller's Homepage]
