Description
Original copper engraved plate by Johannes (Jan) Kip, after Leonard Knyff,, creasing to edges of plate. The animated figures in the foreground add a social dimension to a fine and rare early 18th century architectural view of Chester Cathedral before the Victorian -Improvements-. Taken from Joseph Smith's edition of Britannia Illustrata or Nouveau Theatre de la Grande Bretagne.
